At TomKat Ranch Educational Foundation we prioritize environmental sustainability, teaching and learning, healthy food, and finding strategies to mitigate climate change.
Below are the titles and descriptions we’ve given these priorities.
Our Goal: To provide healthy food from sustainable working landscapes
We work with partners to promote sustainable land use practices at TomKat Ranch and on other lands and seek to demonstrate the benefits of sustainable practices and share those practices with others so that they may be more widely understood and adopted. Sustainable practices benefit people and the environment and address climate change.
Our Goal: Inspire, teach & empower others about sustainable working landscapes
We leverage our “learning lab” to promote broader understanding of the important connections between nature, sustainable practices, animal agriculture, and healthy food. We invite others to teach and to learn as we work towards a safe, sustainable future. Our goal is to cultivate a sustainable agricultural and conservation ethic, and to be a model that educates and inspires students, consumers, and land managers.
Our Goal: Advance the business of ecologically-friendly animal agriculture
We work with other producers, organizations and partners to create the conditions necessary for ecological and economic success. This includes creating meat products that meet the needs of a new generation of consumers who care where their food comes from and how it is produced. We work with others to catalyze innovative solutions for business bottlenecks, promote certification systems, and increase market connections for ranchers and consumers.
Our Goal: To understand what “climate smart” means and work towards becoming a climate-smart ranch
The climate is changing, the human population is growing, and our technology is advancing rapidly. Our world today is different from what it was a hundred years ago, and it is nothing like it will be a hundred years from now. A climate-smart ranch takes action now to prepare for the future. Sustainability translates into our operational practices as well as our agricultural and ecological activities.
