Welcoming people to TomKat Ranch so they can experience ranch life for themselves has always been part of the fabric of our mission. Along with the splendor of the outdoors, time spent at the ranch can intimately connect people with regenerative cattle grazing and food production. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic put a large wrinkle in that objective.
Now, after over a year and a half, we are eager to welcome people to the ranch once again and are immensely grateful for the success and efficacy of the vaccine program and the ability to be involved in our community after all this time.
In the spirit of unfurling fresh sheets (permanently we hope!), we once again held our semi-annual Plein Air Artists Day creative ensemble. This round had the added bonus of occurring during our Goats to the Rescue fire mitigation program that brought a herd of over 850 goats to strategically graze around the ranch. On Friday, April 23rd, a dozen local artists arrived to experience, meet the goats, and interpret ranch life in their unique and creative ways.
While some of the artists wandered out to find and paint goats, others sought more classic subjects like horses, barns, old apple trees, and even our ranch manager Mark Biaggi sitting at a picnic table during a video conference. Below are presentations of some of the work we’re sure you’ll enjoy.
